South Island NZ Shows, June 2012
We were hosted in Geraldine by the Pye Partnership to put on a show for their end of harvest function. They kindly also let the local school sell tickets as a fund raiser.
The venue was amazing (Stonebridge), and with a crowd of 165 we had an awesome time. It was a late night but not too late.
The next day we were at Papakaio in their community hall, 180 people for another fund raiser. They gave us a standing ovation, but I think they deserved the credit.
Another supportive and close rural community at their best. Simon was to play dance music to midnight, but he kept playing more rockin’ tracks, the people kept dancing, and we wound up some time after 2:00.
That too was a great night, the only downside was lack of sleep and no time in the lovely cottage we were accommodated in.
At both shows the community feeling and closeness was evident. We really noticed it. It touched us.
All in all it reinforces for me the value of communities. I love doing the show, and most especially with community groups.
